United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime Internship, Abuja, Nigeria

Background
Under the guidance and supervision of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) Representative a.i and the direct supervision of the Associate Expert, the intern will work with the Justice Sector Team and will provide general support for the Team. Within the annual corporate work plan the team will have to perform the objectives and results of the country office work plan.
Duties and Responsibilities
Support the Country Office in the preparation for the InternationaI Day against Drugs and Trafficking and launch of the 2011 World Drug Report:
  • Assist in Liaising with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) on the UN International Day against Drugs and Trafficking;
  • Assist in the preparation of a power-point presentation for the launch of the 2011 World Drug Report.
Support the Justice Sector Reforms project:
  • Assist in the analysis of data collection for the evaluation of project NGA T52: ''Improving the Nigeria Prison Service Adherence to international standards in the treatment of prisoners through human resources development.''
  • Support in liaising with stakeholders under the Bayelsa Expenditure and Income Transparency Initiative (BEITI) project;
  • Assist in the preparation of reports on project activities.

Required Skills and Experience
Education
A first university degree with firm offer of admission to, or completion of first year master's course work in Law and International Relations.
Experience
Work experience not required. Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc)
Language Requirements:
Fluency (both written and spoken) in English.
