Learning & Development Manager at Laplace Technologies Limited


is a leading telecommunication engineering service company in Nigeria. Operating out of Lagos Nigeria, we also have regional presence in Ibadan, Kano, Abuja, Enugu, Port Harcourt and Accra in Ghana. As a result of expansion and strategic positioning, we are seeking to recruit a highly competitive and top-of-class Manager, Learning & Development to strengthen the growing company.
Job Title: Manager, Learning & Development
 
Overall Job Objectives
To develop, direct and implement company-wide learning and development initiatives as the organization continues to grow in the domestic and international markets.  To closely liaise with all levels of the organization and evolve immediate and long term learning and development strategies that support both its domestic and international business objectives. From technical training to professional development activities, this position will be responsible for incorporating key principles of staff training and development to effectively design and implement consistent training programs and materials that align with the company’s vision and core values.
 
Responsibilities:
• Plans, directs, and coordinates learning objectives and instructional strategies; including developing the best methodologies for training delivery (i.e. web-based, classroom, field, etc.). 
• Works with department heads to identify specific training needs within each department and facility. Designs and implements effective training options to close department and remote workforce gaps. Evaluates and monitors the development and effectiveness of these programs.
• Maintains existing courses and ensures that each of them are revised and improved, based on the recommendation of the instructors, students and changing business demands. 
• Develops new course modules to be incorporated into existing courses, as well as researches, designs and implements new ones. 
• Designs the general curriculum, defines training objectives, and generates mastery tests. 
• Works with graphic artists to create audiovisual and other training aids. 
• Updates and modifies course contents to reflect any development and changes in the procedures or technology discussed in the course. 
• Provides technical assistance and support to instructors and students when necessary, trains instructors in correctly administering the course materials they have developed. 
• Executes the entire training process, needs assessment, development and/or outsourcing of training programs, including content, delivering of training programs and evaluation of effectiveness of training.
• Selects and monitors internal and external trainers and vendors to deliver consistent training programs and services. 
• Develops and monitors the Annual Training Plan/Budget of the company.
• Conducts regular research and development initiatives to ensure that company programs meet or exceed contemporary industry training standards and delivery innovations.
• Leads the design, development, implementation and maintenance of a skills inventory that will assist in human resource planning and identification of learning needs.
• Maintains the company’s mentoring program, acting as the primary contact for employees and managers; and manages new employee orientation.
• Supports succession planning initiatives by developing and maintaining career development programs and provides a comprehensive curriculum of behavioural training, tools and resources for individual contributors and supervisors. 
• Establish a competencies model that details the core values of the business, provides a foundation for the career development program and becomes the common language linking  performance management, succession management and leadership development programs
• Manages fiscal aspects of training including ROI of programs in meeting or exceeding budget standards. Measures, documents and reports on ROI assessments on learning initiatives.
 
Qualification & Experience
• A Bachelor’s Degree plus a Master’s degree in Instructional Design or any related course.
• Minimum of 8 years experience within the Learning and Organizational Development Role.
• Sound analytical and creative skills.
• Interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively with a diverse group.
• Self-directed and strong ability to prioritize effectively.
• Highly disciplined and organized with a strong attention to detail.
• Problem-solving ability. 
• Ability to communicate ideas and concepts clearly and accurately. 
• Efficient time management skills 
• Working knowledge of current and emerging training tools and learning aids.
• Strong presentation and facilitation skills.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• High computer literacy and good knowledge of software applications such as word processor, database management, PowerPoint, and presentation software. 
• Maximum Age of 38 Years
