Public Affairs Manager (FMCG)

PUBLIC AFFAIRS MANAGER
The Nigerian Bottling Company (NBC) Plc is the franchise bottler and distributor for products of The Coca-Cola Company in Nigeria. The company was incorporated in November 1951 with the franchise to bottle and sell products of The Coca-Cola Company in Nigeria....

NBC is a member of Coca-Cola Hellenic, an anchor bottler with the franchise to bottle products of The Coca-Cola Company in 28 countries in North, Central and South Europe, Asia and in Africa with over 560 million consumers in these markets. As the pioneer bottler in the conglomerate, NBC prides itself as the bedrock of CCH. NBC is headquartered in Ebute-Meta, Lagos and operates 13 bottling facilities, 28 commercial territories and 59 depots across the country. We are recruiting for a highly competent and experienced professional to fill the position of Public Affairs Manager.
Key Accountabilities:
A.      Community Relations / Corporate Social Responsibility
  • In conjunction with plant teams, actively engages local communities within the region to determine needs, develops strategies and initiates programs which would answer to these needs, in close connection with the company’s strategies and Business Plan.
  • Ensure full understanding of CSR strategies and search for implementing partners with expertise and coordinates the timely execution of sustainable CSR programs in conjunction with the plant teams.
  • Conducts impact assessment of these programs on recipients and the company
  • Ensures the community development initiatives are implemented within the CSR framework and standard operating procedures.
  • Oversee the activities of implementing partners and contractors working on community development programs.
  • Ensures companywide awareness of NBC CSR strategy and initiatives.
B.       Government Relations
  • Identify key stakeholders with impact on company activities and develop a strategy and plan for relationship management.
  • Conduct regular survey of key stakeholder groups to gain up-to-date knowledge of their perceptions and attitudes on issues with potential impact on the businesses and reputation of the Company and use of the data for the relationship management and planning of communications programs.
  • Monitors political developments, identifies potential issues, evaluate threats and opportunities by analysing impact on the company and takes appropriate action if necessary
  • Analyses enquiries from government officials (State and Local) and other stakeholders about the company and develop and manage all necessary communication platforms towards relevant authorities, stakeholders and influencers needed to achieve the main purpose of the job.
C.       Public Affairs
  • Represent NBC in relevant industry associations, organizations and projects.
  • Coordinates and implements Company-sponsorsed events in conjunction with plant teams
  • Support PA&C department, Leadership team and other internal publics/persons with required knowledge.

Qualifications:
  • A good university degree – Social Sciences, Law
  • Masters in Public Relations, CSR, Public Affairs/Policy or other related Arts will be an added advantage
  • Minimum 5-7 years professional experience in Government/Community Affairs role
